On May 27th, 2017 Superbook came to town for the kids. It is the day we celebrate the precious gems that God has blessed us with, here in Nigeria – our children. It was established as a public holiday in 1964, and has since been commemorated as a ‘school-free’ day for all primary and secondary school children.

This year, on this special day, CBN Nigeria decided to show our love for children, and dedication to their welfare by hosting the maiden edition of our SuperBook Fest and marking the official launch of SuperBook Club. Resources were put together, preparations were made, invitations were sent to over 30 churches, and at 11 am that day, we were ready for kick off.

Our guests trooped in their numbers to our registration desk as they arrived, gleaming and glowing expectantly. They all had one thing in common – they were friends of Jesus, (yes!) but also lovers of our Superbook animation.

Expectant guests arrive with their happy father.
More children trooping in.
Cheerful Gizmo fans pose for the camera.

At 12:30 pm, the event kicked off with the opening prayer, said by CBN Nigeria’s Rev. John Kalma, and then guess who showed up… Superbook’s very own GIZMO in all his AWESOMENESS!!!

It’s really him! Gizmo in the flesh 😀

Next, the kids watched Episode 4 from the first season of Superbook – Let My People Go! As you can tell from the name, it was the story of Israel’s exodus from Egypt (click on the link above to see a preview). Next, the children enjoyed a quiz which gave them the opportunity to answer questions about the story they had just seen. The kids took turns at this and won fun prizes.

Super Bible students raise their hands to answer quiz questions.
A little girl gets a chance to answer…
…and she made us all proud!

We took breaks in between to watch two amazing dance performances by “Little Feet”. These two beautiful girls stunned us all with great moves that left us awestruck, on our feet cheering and dancing along.

Beautiful!
They were so confident…
We couldn’t help but join in…
…And yes, we had a lot of fun 🙂

Afterwards, we saw The Ten Commandments (Episode 5) and A Giant Adventure (Episode 6), both from the first season of Superbook. The team also introduced the parents to our all new Superbook Club and showcased the Club Curriculum, which includes a manual + worksheets for students, a puzzle/word search book, and a colouring book. Noteworthy, over 300 children came for this event, and as you can see, all we had a blast!

We sincerely want to appreciate God for the grace to pull this off, and our generous partners for their commitment to the work. We also would like to use this medium to thank the pastorate of All Christians Fellowship Mission, Maitama, Abuja for letting use their hall, and all the invited churches, for acknowledging our invite, and bringing your children to this event. None of these would have been possible without you. Thank you so much!

If you missed this event and would like to know how to purchase a Superbook DVD, find or start a Superbook Club in your area, or find out any other information, kindly send us a message now by clicking this link. See more pictures from the event here.

God bless you.
