Mary Anyango, a 9 years old girl is the fourth born in a family of six (3 brothers and 2 sisters).
Mary is currently in pre-unit class in Missions of Hope Center (MOHC) – Korogocho B. She and her siblings live with their mother after the father passed on in the year 2004 after a short illness.
Mary’s mother is a casual worker who earns less than a dollar a day. The family is extremely needy since the inconsistent income by the mother is not able to meet the family basic needs. Sometimes the family relied on well-wishers for their upkeep. Mary was malnourished and needed serious health interventions. When she was recruited into our school, she was screened in our health facility and benefitted greatly from our feeding program.
Mary is performing excellently in her academics and she was in first position in her class. This has brought a lot of joy and hope to her family. Mary’s younger sister who is 6 years old and not in school has been put in the waiting list and will be joining our school in January 2017. Mary and her family have an assurance of a brighter future though the intervention of MOHI.
