“This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” – 1 John 4:10

What comes to mind when you think of Easter? Holidays, easter egg hunts and spending time with family, the gift of life? Or perhaps it’s one of the sacred holidays that you try to engage spiritually with, and maybe attend a church service?

God needed to do something huge to reconcile the promise of life to His children. This is what Easter is about over and above all the other ways we choose to celebrate or spend our time this coming weekend. Almighty God chose to be reconciled to us by the sacrifice of His son Jesus. Amazing!

This sacrifice was completely sufficient. Jesus Christ absorbed the punishment that brings peace for those who believe in Him. There is no longer anything keeping us away from relationship and the presence of God. If we choose to trust in Jesus, His unconditional love and grace brings freedom in the abundant life God created us for.

Did you know that you can have a genuine relationship and connection with God whether it is during Easter or any other time in the year? Easter is a time to celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ but God’s desire is to be in relationship with His children at all times.

The awesome thing about this is that it does not just apply over the Easter period but throughout the year. God is always the same and gives the same love to us as He did the day He gave up His son, because He “so loved the world’  (John 3:16).

Embrace the true meaning of Easter

When we choose to engage with a holiday like Easter on that slightly deeper level we can really begin to capture the essence of the holiday. We would encourage you to ask God how you can take one step further to embrace the true meaning of Easter this year.

If you would like to experience this relationship with God for the first time, or if you would like a refreshed perspective on how it looks to have a relationship with God in your everyday life, take two minutes to pray this prayer and respond to God in your heart.

Father God, I confess that I have sinned against you, and I’m sorry. I believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose again from the grave so that I would be forgiven. Father, I give my life to you and ask that you would be the Lord of my life forever. Speak to me as I read the bible and as I remember the perfect life you sacrificed so that I could have life. Amen.

If you prayed this prayer, we would love to hear from you and pray with you. Get in touch with us at (021) 701 1776, Whatsapp us at 0717633810 or email us at info@cbnsa.org.
