It’s Women’s Month 2020!
What a year it has been as the COVID19 pandemic hit the world, changing our lives drastically. So many things that we valued before have become secondary, whilst some things that were secondary have become primary. As godly women we build our houses on the Word of God, which is the Rock. The rains and storms of life can beat on our houses but we will not be shaken. Hallelujah!!!
The pandemic has certainly negatively affected some things that are particularly of interest to women, such as our regular visits to our beauty treatment salons and spas, as these were not considered essential during lockdown level 5. We love to have our hair done; faces made up, etc. Just to make matters worse, we now need to wear face masks which hides the beautiful faces we have, to the extent that we can pass by friends and go unnoticed.
However, as godly women, we should not worry about these change of events or restrictions that has affected our ability to polish our external beauty. Which we must admit, takes up a lot of our time, money and effort.
Water Your Garden
The Bible says;
3 Your adornment must not be merely external—with interweaving and elaborate knotting of the hair, and wearing gold jewellery, or [being superficially preoccupied with] dressing in expensive clothes; 4 but let it be [the inner beauty of] the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality and unfading charm of a gentle and peaceful spirit, [one that is calm and self-controlled, not overanxious, but serene and spiritually mature] which is very precious in the sight of God. 1 Peter 3:3-4 AMP (emphasis mine).
As the world makes drastic changes to cater for the health of mankind, I call on women to arise and make drastic changes by shifting our focus from merely catering for external beauty, and begin to put more into our inner beauty- the beauty of the heart. Your heart is a beautiful garden and like all gardens, it needs your attention. Especially in current times where everything seems to be going bizarre.
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Proverbs 31.30 (emphasis mine).
Prioritising merely on your external beauty is majoring on minor as beauty becomes fleeting as we grow older. But the imperishable quality and unfading charm of a gentle and peaceful spirit is of priority. The beauty of your heart does not fade away. As women of God, our priority is to find out what pleases our Heavenly Father. Precious in the sight of our Father is to see us majoring on the hidden person of the heart. Beauty is beyond your physical appearance. You may think COVID has robbed you of your beauty, that’s what man may think, but God thinks differently; He sees the heart.
Become Attractive to God
But the LORD said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The LORD doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7 (emphasis mine)
We should not be anxious about the state of our external beauty but about the state of our hearts before God. The purity of our heart, the gentleness of our hearts, the love that flows from our hearts, the kindness the comes from within.
Let’s seek to be attractive first to God. Charm is deceptive and beauty will not last, but the woman who seeks to be attractive to God; charming Him with her beautiful heart as she set out with all her heart to obey Him, reverence Him; should be praised. A woman who gets praised for her beauty is not the woman who is only beautiful outside but the one who is more beautiful inside, one who knows that the outward beauty only lasts for a time and needs not be invested in as much.
During funerals, you will hardly hear people comment on the beautiful face of the deceased, instead they talk about the heart of the person and how they benefited from the things that flowed out of their beautiful hearts during their life time.
A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart. Luke 6:45.NLT (emphasis mine)
The World Needs You to Shine Outwards
More than ever before, especially during these times of great health and economic decline, we need to build this treasury of a good heart so that the negative effects COVID has had on us does not make us bitter, hateful and unkind to those we are locked down with.
Women, you are beautiful inside out.
If your facemask has masked your outward beauty, never mind, there should be more within you than without. Seek this unfading beauty that grows from glory to glory.
16 Therefore we do not become discouraged [spiritless, disappointed, or afraid]. Though our outer self is [progressively] wasting away, yet our inner self is being [progressively] renewed day by day. 2 Cor 4:16AMP (emphasis mine)
Make the Father proud during these dark times the world is facing. Be a soft-landing place for those in anguish not because all is going well with you, but because you owe it to the Father and to the world to bring out of your heart’s treasury true heavenly beauty.
Be beautiful inside out.
Shalom!!!
