God is not to be treated like a vending machine who gives us what we want once we insert the right amount of currency. He desires relationship through time spent in intimacy with Him. This does not happen without patience.
Often, to have hope we must have equal amounts of patience. Even though we are guaranteed of God’s benevolence, providence and the outcome of God’s good promises, we must still trust in His timing. We rarely see what we hope for immediately – we do on occasions, but often, we wait. I believe that waiting patiently for what we’re hoping for is important so that we grow in our relationship with God. If we always get what we hope for in an instant, we would never really grow in our faith nor in a loving, trusting relationship with God.

“When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself, saying, “I will surely bless you and give you many descendants.” And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.” – Hebrews 6:13-15
Need I remind you that Abraham became the “Father of faith” as a result of his patience in God’s promises. He kept believing and trusting until he saw what he hoped for.
“For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.” – Romans 8:24-25
